Geometric love: Triangle earrings

Today on the agenda: do it yourself earrings. All you need is a scrap of leather, some spray paint, a small pice of golden chain, two clasps and two earring pieces. I've put together a little animation below to show you the single steps needed to put together these triangle earrings. It only took me about 15 minutes to makes these.

After cutting two triangles (mine are about 2.5 cm high), tape off the triangles so only the tips will show. Spray paint the tips in any color you like - nailpolish will work too I guess. Let dry and peel off the tape. Attach two clasps to each triangle and with connector rings attach a small piece of chain (approx. 3 cm long). Hang the chain on your earring pieces and your're done!

Biggest obession: Birch bark, baby

1 2 3 4

I have a soft spot for birch patterns, which shouldn't come to a big surprise - just look at my blog and facebook header. The simple black and white horizontal stripe thing going on on these lovely trees just does it for me. Thus I've browsed etsy a little, another obsession which I'm proud to be a part of (my shop), and found some wonderful birchy things to embellish yourself or your appartment with.
Anything I've missed? Please, let me know.

Do this:Customize your calendar

The beginning of a new year always means a new calendar that will keep you company for the 12 following months. Therefore I always try to choose one that I'll like for that long. It's been a Moleskine calendar for the past few years now and it seems that isn't changing for 2013. Except: this time I customized it since the new super thin ones come only in pretty boring and blah colors. Here's a link to the one I bought.

A trip to the craft store and an hour later I had the fun and individualized version you see above.
I've put together a short animation to show you how I made it.

Have a lovely day everbody.

This is how I like it: Perfect kitchen

via
I found my dream kitchen on the blog Nordic Leaves (beautiful blog btw). Everything is perfection in this room. Starting with the mint green Smeg fridge to the white floors, black and white prints and artful chairs.
Down below you may find my interpretation of this awesome kitchen.

All the pretty things: Ferm Living

all images via ferm living
The new Ferm Living collection is out. And since it's once of my favorite companies, I'd like to show some of the new stuff here on the blog. The new prints are as happy and as fun as all the ferm living prints from the past years. I hope I can get a hold of some of the pieces for my flat. I especially like the potholders and tray in the kitchen picture.

Give me my winter back

This is a picture (actually two blended together) taken two weeks ago in the Italian alps. Thats was what I call real winter, not this rainy-7 degrees-yucky-mess in Berlin right now.

On its way: A cup of copper

The newest trend in living, fashion and beauty it seems is copper. This beautiful metal can be found on nails, hanging over tables as lampshades, crafted into necklaces and rings or painted onto kitchen appliances (look at that kitchen aid - want that!).
And here are some of my favorite copper finds, along with some pretty nice styling ideas:
  1. Tom Dixon lampshade
  2. Tom Dixon lampshade
  3. Kitchen Aid
  4. Ferm Living pencil holder
  5. Snug vase

Illustrated: Guther Designs

Berlin based graphic designer Julia Guther creates beautiful illustrations and drawings for cd covers, magazines and other freelance projects. I've saved these illustrations a while ago and stumbled upon them while cleaning my external drive. I think they are too nice not to share.
