To change the feeling of a room sometimes the only thing you have to do is to change the accent color of your living accessories. No painting or buying a new sofa required. My color of the moment is blue. I've got blue accents in my room everywhere, from a side painted door to the blanket on the sofa and the vases on my window sill. I've put together a little collage with fun accents that can update your room in seconds. Scouting flea markets is always a good idea too if you want to find nice vases, cups and other odds. Also a good tip to change the color of a piece you already own is spray paint - my go to method if it comes to painting. I just love it. Now tell me, what is your color of the moment?
I don't remember when or how I came across Max Wanger, but I know I instantly liked his work. Especially his signature shot, lots of sky and just a little bit of a person in the picture - like the ones above. Have to keep that in mind and try it out next time on the road with my camera.
I know, I know, it's not spring yet. Everybody living in Germany knows what I'm talking about (snow outside my window right now!). But my calendar says it's March and my mind is set on light spring dishes. Consequently, I made this delicious pasta dish today for lunch. It's an easy way to bring a little Italian deliciousness on your table. And here comes the recipe:
For a serving of 5 you'll need:
500 gr of spaghetti
2 cloves of garlic
2 lemons (zest of 2, juice of 1)
2 medium sized squashes
15 black olives, cut in slices
Cook the spaghetti and keep about one cup of the cooking water
Cut the onions in cubes and brown them in a large pan
Add the squash and mushroom slices and stew for a few more minutes
Zest two organic lemons and add the zest and the garlic
Add the cup of noodle water and let it simmer for about 5 minutes
To finish, add the juice of 1 lemon, the olive slices and take the pan away from the heat
Toss the sauce and the spaghetti and serve it with freshly grated parmesan cheese
Are you also in need for a little hint of spring in your appartment? It just snowed again all weekend and week and I'm pretty over this winter weather. To help bringing bright colors and spring flowers inside your house, try this little vase DIY thats on I SPY DIY today. I'll certainly start looking for nice wine bottles and other jars I can spray paint around the house right now...
Last summer I found the perfect pair of pants. They were tie-dye pants that looked like you were wearing clouds on your legs. I loved them. But after the first time in the washing machine they came out almost flat white. My disappointment was big but I was not ready to give up on them. So I decided to try my own cloudy pattern on these white pants. The result was not the same as before but I still like my new tie-dye jeans; they're gonna be especially great once the sun shows a little more and you can pair them with a jean jacket and such.
To dye my paints I made them slighty wet and placed them on tin foil. Next I sort of tucked them unevenly until they were have the size, like you can see in the picture. I filled an empty spray bottle with water and mixed some fabric paint until I liked the color (try it out on an extra piece of fabric). Then I sprayed the pants from both sides. Hang them up to dry and you're done.
The combination of chain stitched together with yarn and embellished with rhinestones or pom poms isn't new, in fact there are manybloggers out who've made all kinds off different and beautiful versions. The German label Fashionnerds from Hamburg is a bit more professional. They're statement necklaces are a cool mix of yan, chain, fun pendants and rope. Their necklaces are a bit more expensive than selfmade but I'll use them as an inspiration to make my own mixed-materials-necklace for the upcoming spring season.
Another living trend seems to be pastel again. The dutch living magazine Vt wonen shows this beautiful picture of an entire pastel livingroom. Pale rose walls seem a bit much to me but I like the overall airyness of the room. I've restyled it in a collage with products you can shop online. Love, Lela
I've been busy making new necklaces for my Etsy shop the past few days and I've put four new ones in the shop today. Just in time for the Etsy March promotion "Versand für umme", where participating German Etsy shops grant free shipping for all cutomers living in Germany. If you are one of them, use #versandfuerumme in the etsy searchbar to find all participating shops - like mine.
